I wanted to wish all of my fellow Americans a happy fourth of July. Please take some time to consider that how, in most instances, we are so lucky to live in a “rich” country. Some Americans, maybe a lot, live at the poverty level and struggle to feed their families or keep a roof over their heads. We have community food banks that pass out recently expired food that would otherwise be thrown away. I’ve had to seek help from these resources, and I feel grateful they were there when I needed them. Churches sometimes help with utility bills so that power or heat is not shut off. Our utility companies offer discounts on services for Americans living in poverty. Compared to countries where people live in shacks, out of the materials from trash heaps surrounding them, we poverty level Americans are “rich.” I know this is a random topic considering my blog purpose. But it’s what I think about when I struggle financially.
