So slowly, I am finishing up my two crochet projects. One of them is a creation of my accord using a stitch from a book. It is a scarf that I created for spring or fall. I like crocheting my patterns for scarves because I know a few people close to me who wear them. They can be made in a short amount of time and are a popular fashion accessory for milder or colder temperatures. This particular scarf using the tidy little stitch from a book entitled The Big Book of Crochet Stitches by Jean Leinhauser & Rita Weiss. Because the instructions to this stitch are copyrighted, I cannot publish a pattern for it as an original. But I can give you a quick explanation of my steps to create the scarf. I used a 3ply yarn called Mandala by Lion Brand. I cannot find this color yarn anymore, but it is a blend of merino wool and acrylic. You can use any 3ply yarn to make the scarf. I chose an H hook for the project. I used the base multiples to make a 7-8 inch wide foundation and crocheted the tidy little stitch pattern until the length of the scarf was about 60″. My picture of the scarf isn’t that great, but it was the best I could do. The tidy little stitch is on page 62 of The Big Book of Crochet Stitches. I purchased my copy from Amazon for Kindle, but it is available in print as well.
