Astraia Sky Designs

Creativity & Beyond

A Simple Introduction

My name is Rea, and I’ve been doing business as Astraia Sky Designs. What is Astraia Sky Designs? I use ASD for raising money to pursue my creative endeavors such as crochet, stock photography, digital art, and writing. Being creative is a great way to reduce stress and opens doors to self-expression. Creative projects allow something different than a day-to-day job. My other job is making food deliveries. My husband and I work together because I do not drive and he does not like working the apps and navigation. I get to spend the day with the man I love, so most of the time this job is enjoyable. Every day is a new adventure. We both have our separate outlets for creativity. Our outlets give us a good relationship balance to be able to come home from work and have a little distance as well.

My main outlet for creativity is crochet. I have many favorite patterns that I find online, plus I create projects of my own. The hats I make seem to be getting a little popular, but there are other projects I work on that I enjoy as well, such as purses, coasters, plastic bag holders, and water bottle holders. I like to try new things and spend hours going through patterns and stitches. I hope to share what I discover online with other people who are dabbling in yarn crafts. The amount of information can be overwhelming on the web. Condensing information down to my favorite projects is one way of helping other beginning or intermediate crochet enthusiasts.

I’ve been crocheting on and off since adolescence when my mother taught me my basic stitches. She used to crochet blankets, hats, and more for my sister and me as kids. I just finished crocheting her a couple of purses. She sells her scrunchies at the assisted living community where she lives. As I’ve aged, I’ve found more time to enjoy this pastime.

Digital art and stock photography are part of my creative outlets as well. I tend to take a lot of nature-themed photos and sort out the best ones to sell. There is always something new to learn. My current collections are in my Etsy shop (in progress). Sometimes I write blog articles for other people. I haven’t done that in a while; however, I would like to keep my options open.

I intend to share my experiences with these subjects, and I hope you will find this blog interesting and return for more. Best regards, and happy creating.
